Nabeelden

Nabeelden is an installation by Rein Jelle Terpstra presenting a series of stories of untaken photographs as told by the photographers. A touchscreen application containing a word cloud that functions as an interface to the content. The story titles float around in the cloud and can be playfully moved around by the user, or sorted in a list. Each story plays back as audio only while the screen slowly fades to black.

This is a very sturdy and robust installation consisting of a 42" touchscreen embedded in a custom made metal table. The NaBeelden table runs as a stand alone installation, but can also synchronize with a webserver. In this way numerous tables can be deployed to any location and specific content can be created and edited via the website. Nabeelden is a fine example of how combined technologies can be applied with a high degree of transparency. We believe that content and concept are key, and technology should not distract form what the piece is about. We are very pleased with this minimal style, and transparency of the hardware and software used.
